What’s new for SharePoint – November 2025
SharePoint branding is where I started, so seeing updates that make it easier to keep sites consistent always makes me happy. November brings branding governance via PowerShell and official dark themes for SharePoint sites, giving admins better control and users a modern look.
AI and Copilot features also shine this month, from the refreshed News “See all” page with audio briefings to the new SharePoint Pages Agent and smarter FAQ web part. These updates make intranets feel alive and easier to manage.
My final highlight is the new forms for document libraries, a simple change that improves user experience and helps keep content organized. Overall, this month is all about making SharePoint smarter, more beautiful, and more user-friendly.

If you want to dive deeper into these features and explore other updates, check out all the SharePoint and related announcements from November 2025 below.

Microsoft is retiring the legacy IDCRL authentication protocol in SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business by January 31, 2026, enforcing modern OpenID Connect and OAuth protocols. Organizations should migrate to modern authentication promptly.
As part of our ongoing efforts to simplify and modernize the Viva Connections experience, we will retire the Assignments and Courses adaptive card extensions (ACEs) for Education customers. ACEs are modular components built using the SharePoint Framework (SPFx) that allow developers to create rich, interactive dashboard cards in Viva Connections. These cards surface data and actions from Microsoft 365 services or custom sources, helping users engage with content directly from their dashboard. The equivalent SharePoint dashboard webparts will also be retired. This change is intended to streamline the experience and reduce redundancy across platforms.
