How to Add Web Parts to a Flexible Section in SharePoint
With the arrival of SharePoint flexible sections, you must learn a new way to add web parts to the page. If you are struggling to find the web parts in the flexible sections, you are not alone. In this article, I’ll explain how to do it.
Creating a Flexible Section
First, let’s create a flexible section. It’s done just like any other section on your SharePoint page:
- Click the plus icon, which will expand to say “section.”
- At the top, you’ll see the new flexible section with a label saying “new.” Click on it to add it to your page.

Adding Web Parts
Now, let’s add web parts to the flexible section:
- In the flexible section, you won’t see the usual plus icon for adding web parts. Instead, web parts are available in a toolbox located in the right side bar.
- Search for the web part in the toolbox.
- Drag and drop the web part into the flexible section.
- Resize it to align with the grid columns.
Alternatively you can drag and drop a web part from any other section in the page to the flexible section. It will snap to the grid, and you can resize and rearrange it as needed.
Rearranging Web Parts
You can also move web parts around within the flexible section:
- Click on the six dots when the web part is selected.
- Drag the web part to the desired location and drop it.
Conclusion
That’s it! You’ve successfully added web parts to a flexible section in SharePoint. This feature allows you to create unique and engaging layouts for your SharePoint pages.
