The Fantastic 50: SharePoint New Page Templates Are Coming
Remember the SharePoint Fantastic Forty? If you’ve been around the SharePoint ecosystem long enough, you probably recall that application templates initiative to help customize and enhance your SharePoint experience. Well, get ready for déjà vu – we’re about to get the Fantastic 50 SharePoint page templates.
Wait, Aren’t Page Templates Already a Thing?
You’re absolutely right to wonder. Page templates aren’t new to SharePoint, Microsoft already provides a handful of out-of-the-box templates that serve as starting points for creating pages and news articles. Plus, content creators can save their carefully crafted pages as templates to speed up future projects.
Here’s What’s Actually Changing
Microsoft is giving the new page creation dialog a complete makeover, and with it comes 50+ fresh page templates that really leverage those flexible sections we’ve all been playing with. These aren’t your typical SharePoint-looking pages – they’re designed to make SharePoint not look like SharePoint.
If you’re like most of us who can design a database but can’t arrange visual elements to save our lives, Microsoft is throwing us a lifeline. No more staring at a blank page wondering where to put that hero image or how to make your content actually look professional.
From the new interface you will be able to:
- Browse over 50 new Microsoft templates covering common scenarios like status updates, event announcements, and team introductions
- Preview templates before committing (because we’ve all made that mistake before)
- Access both “From Microsoft” and “Saved on this site” templates in one central location
Fair warning though: You might find yourself spending way too much time browsing through all these gorgeous templates. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
The Timeline
Here’s when you can expect to see these templates rolling out:
Targeted Release: Mid to late June 2025 General Availability: Early to late July 2025 (including GCC, GCC High, and DoD environments)
The rollout covers all clouds Worldwide, GCC, GCC High, and DoD. Microsoft is handling this automatically, so no admin action required on your end.
The Real Question
Will these new templates actually solve the “everything looks like SharePoint” problem that’s been haunting organizations for years? Time will tell, but Microsoft seems serious about helping us create content that doesn’t scream “corporate intranet from 2010.”
What do you think – are you excited about having more template options, or do you prefer building pages from scratch? Drop a comment below and let me know how you’re planning to use these new templates in your organization.
