SharePoint Spaces is finally arriving

After almost two years since the original announcement we will be finally able to put our hands on SharePoint Spaces.

According to the announcement published on the Microsoft 365 message center, SharePoint Spaces preview starts the rollout to Target Release customers in April 2020. You can follow this item in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 62752.

How to enable SharePoint Spaces

The steps described in this section will be only available once this feature gets released.

To allow the creation of site pages the site owner must enable the Spaces (Preview) feature doing the following:

1. Go to Settings and then Site information
2. Click on View all site settings
3. On the Site Settings page click on Manage site features under Site Actions
4. Enable the feature Spaces (Preview)
   

   

Once enabled, users will see a new option in the site’s new menu to create a SharePoint Space as illustrated in the following image.

What is SharePoint Spaces?

SharePoint Spaces allows non-developer users to easily build mixed reality spaces that interact with SharePoint data.

SharePoint Spaces will work from the computer browser directly or with the user of VR headsets, in the following animation you can have an idea of how it looks like.
