Seeing Track Changes in a SharePoint Page
In SharePoint, you can set up approval workflows to ensure that content is not disseminated to the entire organization before being reviewed by the approvers. Once you have the approval configured, the only thing you will see is a link to the page in the Approvals application and a description from the person who made the changes, telling you what was modified.
However, it’s not always easy to know what has been changed just by looking at the description, especially if you don’t know all your SharePoint pages by heart. In this article, I’ll explain how to see the track changes, a concept similar to what we have in Microsoft Word.
How to Enable SharePoint Track Changes
- Open the pages where the changes were made.
- Click on ‘Page details‘ located in the toolbar.
- In the ‘More Details‘ section, click on ‘Version history‘.
- Turn on the ‘Highlight changes on the page‘ and select one of the versions to see what was modified.
By doing this, you will be able to see everything that was modified in each version of the page. This is particularly useful when an approval workflow is in place, so you can validate the changes. It’s also handy when you need to see previous versions of the page.
Remember, SharePoint is a powerful tool that can help streamline your organization’s workflow. By understanding how to track changes, you can ensure that all modifications are appropriate and beneficial to your team. Happy SharePointing!
