What’s new for SharePoint – December 2023

Welcome to the last edition of my monthly blog post for 2023, where I share the latest updates for SharePoint and related technologies. December was a calm month, with everyone getting ready for the holidays and the pace of announcements and updates slowing down for the season. However, there were still some important news to share, especially around SharePoint sharing and Microsoft Stream.

The migration deadline for moving your videos from the classic Stream to the new Stream, which is integrated with SharePoint. If you still have videos on the classic Stream, you need to migrate them to SharePoint before it’s too late.

What’s new for SharePoint – November 2023

November was a month of great updates for SharePoint and the applications that run on top of it. Microsoft Stream, which used to be an isolated application, is receiving a lot of new features soon and your videos and meeting recordings will be more interactive than ever before.

On the SharePoint side, there were also updates to the document libraries, which now allow you to access a prebuilt set of templates that will increase the productivity of your users while working within the intranet. The updates of the month were not only about existing products.

During Microsoft Ignite, Microsoft introduced SharePoint Premium, a new offering that will include the features from Syntex. Later in November, during the ESPC, Microsoft introduced SharePoint Embedded, a new headless CMS that will enable ISVs to build their apps on top of SharePoint, leveraging the security of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

SharePoint has undergone a remarkable transformation, what was once a standalone application has evolved into a powerful platform for a growing array of Microsoft 365 applications. In this monthly update, you’ll find the latest changes, starting with the refreshed landing experience for Viva Connections, which now boasts branding capabilities, announcement features, and enhanced layout options.

Additionally, you’ll learn more about the retirement of Microsoft Stream Classic and the promising announcements for its successor. The updates for Viva Connections, such as the ability to create more experience and consistent brand theming, are also on the agenda, along with the introduction of a search feature for Viva Connections on Android and iOS. These changes reflect the ongoing evolution of SharePoint and its expanding role in the modern workspace.

What’s new for SharePoint – September 2023

In the recent updates for SharePoint and related technologies, some significant changes for the platforms. One of the notable updates is the introduction of Verified Viva Topics Badges, allowing editors to mark topics as Verified in Microsoft Viva for increased reliability. Additionally, the integration of Clipchamp into Microsoft 365 brings video editing capabilities to commercial account users. These updates, along with features like Auto Labeling for PDFs in Microsoft Purview and Document Library Templates in SharePoint, aim to enhance functionality and streamline user experiences, contributing to more efficient collaboration and content management.

What’s new for SharePoint – July 2023

Microsoft continues to innovate and improve its suite of products, and I’ve collected some exciting updates to share with you. In this blog post, I’m highlight the main features that are coming to Microsoft Stream, OneDrive, SharePoint and other related technologies.

Users will soon have the ability to upload multiple audio tracks in Stream on SharePoint, and Stream (Classic) will retire on April 15, 2024. Additionally, OneDrive will prompt business users to sync Consumer files using a detected Microsoft Consumer account, while Twitter web part is being removed from SharePoint.
